Mission to Washington DC

February 26th through the 28th the LACBFFA joined the PCC on the annual Mission to Washington DC.

On Monday morning we received a briefing from senior program managers at CBP on upcoming programs and plans for 2017. In the afternoon we divided up to meet with Mr. John Verbeten, (the new Domenic Veneziano) of FDA, while the other group met with the Acting Chairman of the FMC, Khouri and FMC Commissioners Dye and Maffei. Monday night was capped with a dinner with CBP Acting Commissioner Kevin McAleenan, Assistant Commissioner Smith and Director of Trade Information Valarie Neuhart. On Tuesday we met with the staff of the Senate Finance Committee (which oversees CBP) as well as 12 Members of Congress, or their senior advisors.

We shared with all the importance of rules based trade to our local economy, national economy and industry, and offered to be a resource for them as trade issues arise in the coming legislative year.

We welcome all LACBFFA members to join us again in September when we connect with the NCBFFA at its Government Affairs Conference, and on the PCC Mission 2018!
