Richard Chiang
FDA Specialist, LLC
Richard Chiang worked for the FDA for 13 years beginning as a field investigator and entry reviewer and later worked at the FDA’s headquarters Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). He also worked at the FDA Prior Notice Center and eventually served as the Special Assistant to the Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs.
Richard then supervised the FDA Los Angeles Import Operations Compliance Officers, who are the FDA personnel that determine if shipments imported through ports in the Los Angeles District are detained, released, or refused admission into the United States. Richard has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and has worked as consultant, assisting companies in complying with FDA laws and regulations since 2015.
Patty Rodriguez
J & K Fresh, LLC
Patty Rodriguez has been working in the Custom Broker industry since 1983. She began her career as a hairstylist with a Cosmetology License in 1980. But little did she know that her interest would change when she took a position as a receptionist temporarily until she found another salon to work at. A Monday through Friday, 9-5 job started to feel better than the craziness of the hair industry. Plus the freedom of weekends. Little did she know that she would get hooked in the Import Industry.
She is currently working for J & K Fresh LLC for the past 18 year as the Compliance Officer for USDA, FDA and all other PGA related agencies involved in the imports of Food Products, mainly Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. Her job includes traveling to meet with CBP, USDA and FDA at many ports in the U.S. She is also the IT Support at J & K Fresh LLC to resolve computer and processing issues to participating with many working groups involving FDA, AMS, APHIS and ACE.
